PRESS RELEASE

Cheshire Wildlife Trust launch gardening competition

Cheshire Wildlife Trust is launching a children’s competition for its first show garden at the RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park. The competition will celebrate the Trust’s garden, Simply Victorian, which showcases the environmental efforts of our Victorian ancestors.

The competition is open to schools across the region with children asked to draw and name the Victorian gardener who would have owned the garden. The winning child will get the opportunity to select a local school or institution for the garden to be displayed in after the show, as well as having their winning artwork printed on Cheshire Wildlife Trust’s show leaflets.

Barclays Bank is supporting the competition through the involvement of its branches and by providing a iPOD Nano to the winner. Barclays staff will also be looking after some of the plants that will feature in the garden during the lead up to the event. Sarah Noden, Barclays project co-ordinator, comments, “We are delighted to be involved with Cheshire Wildlife Trust’s Simply Victorian garden. The aim of the competition is to promote wildlife and conservation in a fun and informative manner, and hopefully to provide a lasting legacy through the replanting of the garden within a community project, selected by the winner.”

As a wildlife enthusiast, the winner will also enjoy a fantastic day out for them and their class organised by Cheshire Wildlife Trust. The competition is open to primary school children across Cheshire (5-11 year olds). To enter, visit Barclays Bank branches throughout Cheshire to pick up an entry form or visit the competition web page or telephone 01270 610 180 and ask for an entry form.
