One Earth 2007 at Grosvenor Park, Chester
Once again CWT helped to pull off another fantastic fun-filled day in Grosvenor Park with ‘One Earth’ - a festival of celebration designed to raise awareness of environmental and sustainable activity in Cheshire. Under the umbrella of Chester Festivals and working with partner organisations, One Earth sought to expand and develop the range of exhibitors and activities available to the visiting families on Sunday 8th July. Despite having to dodge the raindrops a good time was had by all.
This year we decided to make good use of the marquees and extend the event by an extra day. With the help of M & S Money and Bentley Motors we were able to invite school children from around Cheshire to take part in a special day on Monday offering interactive exhibitions, creativity, fun, science and technology.
Recycling was a very popular theme with recycled jewellery, textiles and the recycling and composting of our waste. The children were also able to study pond life,
play environmental games and learn about the Roman archaeological dig currently happening in the park . The children made clay tiles, homes for friendly bugs and giant poppies. They listened to stories and a music workshop allowed them to get involved with playing instruments and feeling the rhythm!
Hopefully the children returned to school armed with a little more knowledge and their creations from the day, happy and a little wiser.
